FAQs
Q) Are you an authorised dealer?
No, Hallam & Sons is an independent business. This independance grants us the flexibility to offer competitive prices and curate a collection based on our personal standards. Every piece we select is chosen with care, reflecting something we would wear ourselves and readily accept back if needed.
Q) How do I know my watch is authentic?
When purchasing a watch from Hallam & Sons, rest assured that it is guaranteed to be authentic and precisely as described. Each of our watches undergoes thorough scrutiny by both our team and an independent watchmaker to ensure smooth operation and adherence to manufacturer standards. We also conduct checks via the watch register to confirm they are not lost, stolen, or fraudulent.
Q) Are your watches serviced?
All watches sold by Hallam & Sons undergo meticulous examination, and if necessary, they are serviced before becoming available for purchase.
Q) Do all watches come with a warranty?
At Hallam & Sons, we stand by the quality of every watch we sell. That's why all our timepieces come with a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase.
If your watch is still covered under the original manufacturer's warranty at the time of sale, we recommend contacting the manufacturer first for any service or repairs.
Please note, our warranty does not cover:
- Loss or theft of the watch
- Normal wear and tear
- Water damage
- Accidental damage due to mishandling or misuse
- Any damage caused intentionally or through negligence
Additionally, the warranty will be void if any inspection, servicing, or repair is carried out by a third party without prior approval from Hallam & Sons.
Q) How and when will I receive my watch / Jewellery after purchasing?
Upon receiving payment for your purchase, we strive to dispatch your new watch or jewellery item within 1-3 working days. While most orders are shipped the same working day, we include a small buffer to account for any unforeseen circumstances, ensuring our customers are not left disappointed. For all UK orders, we offer free shipping via Royal Mail Special Delivery, guaranteeing next working day delivery. Once your parcel has been dispatched, we shall send you an email with your tracking number so that you are able to keep an eye on your parcel throughout its journey to yourself. All items will be fully insured during the delivery process.
Orders outside of the UK will be shipped via DHL Express. We encourage you to reach out to us for a personalised quote and estimated delivery time. Again your watch will be fully insured during the delivery process, via our third party insurer.
Q) Why buy a pre-owned watch?
Purchasing a pre-owned luxury watch offers several advantages. Beyond avoiding waiting lists for high-demand, limited-production models, it's a smart investment, often free from initial depreciation. Additionally, collectors can access discontinued limited edition or vintage models that are no longer in production, making pre-owned watches the sole avenue to acquire such rare pieces.
Q) What is a Pre-owned, Unused Watch / Jewellery Item?
A pre-owned, unused watch / Jewellery item is a brand new, never worn item in original factory sealed condition, with the accompanying packaging, boxes, papers and instructions.
Q) Do you accept returns if I'm not 100% happy with my purchase?
Yes, at Hallam & Sons your satisfaction is our commitment. Your item may be exchanged or refunded for upto 14-days from the day of purchase. Please read our Returns Policy for more information.
Q) How much detail do you need about the history and condition of the watch / Jewellery item I wish to sell / trade?
Please tell us as much as possible about your watch / Jewellery item, including any flaws or faults and try and take clear images of all angles. All items will be thoroughly checked by our in-house team, checked against the Art Loss Register, as well as being authenticated by a third party professional. No money is paid out for items until this process has been complete. All sellers must provide a form of picture ID, which matches the bank details of the account you wish to have any funds transferred into. For this reason it is always best to be as honest as possible in the description of the item you wish to sell, so as to prevent any delays in your item being processed or being returned to you.
Q) What happens if my watch / jewellery is flagged on the Art Loss Register?
Should a watch / Jewellery item be flagged in the Art Loss Register Database, your contact details will be passed to the Register to enable them to investigate the circumstances of the match.
Q) How do you value your watches / Jewellery?
At Hallam & Sons our meticulous process involves real-time market value assessments for all watches and Jewellery, both in purchase and sale, ensuring that our pricing is consistently attractive.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us - we're always delighted to discuss all things gems, jewellery and watches.
